Greek Orthodox Ordination

As far as I know photos of his ordination have not been made available yet... looks like the ordination video is no longer available.

Nvm. Poked around on Youtube. They've uploaded it there:

From the January 2014 newsletter for Church of the Annunciation:

To all who attended the Ordination Liturgy on January 19...you were a part of history. Yes history....following from the earliest tradition of Christianity for the "laying on of hands" to those who succeeded the apostles of Jesus. fact the apostles were so overwhelmed as they began their preaching after the Lord's Resurrection, they knew they needed help and soon on "ordained" 7 men to help them.....the first deacons….and after selecting these men of good repute, "they laid their hands on them and prayed"(Acts 6:6).So for 2,000 plus years of Christian history, ordinations have been held bringing us to January 19, 2014, here in Cranston. Yes, you were all a part of history in the process of "making a priest." We rejoice in Fr. Matthew's ordination and look forward to his ministry ahead in the greater Church. Axios! For those who missed the service, it was streamed lived and it can be viewed at
https://new.livestream.com/accounts/6144509/events/2702502 Streaming began from early on in the Orthros Service...the actual Ordination portion is about 1 hr 25 mins in.

Matthew, a Cranston native, came to our parish some 12 years ago as a convert to the Orthodox Church after his search for theological truth while working as a high school literature teacher in Virginia. He converted at a Carpatho-Russian Orthodox parish there. Since that time he has been a continuous student at various Orthodox Theological schools, in fact 3 of them and already is a respected theologian in church academia. In a recent reflection for the Cranston Herald Fr Matthew wrote.

"Orthodoxy is not limited to Greeks and Russians, but traditionally includes many other peoples: Romanian, Syrian, Lebanese, Georgian, Albanian, Ukrainian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Alaskan natives and others. The Orthodox faith is now continually spreading through Western Europe and America through both emigrations and many conversions. Our seminaries on the East Coast-- especially Holy Cross in Brookline, St Vladimir's in New York, and St Tikhon's in Pennsylvania -- are filled with converts and people from many backgrounds who are training to become priests or for other roles of service in the Church.

The ethnically Greek communities are often viewed by visitors and some converts as somewhat "closed," like walking into someone else's family reunion. In reality, though, I have found the Greek-American community the most warm, generous, and hospitable group of human beings I ever encountered. They literally "adopted" me and I feel that they are all my family, Annunciation Parish in particular has been amazing over the years to us—a beautiful place and truly our home—we have been so embraced."
