A person who makes recourse against an act of the Roman Pontiff to an ecumenical council or the college of bishops is to be punished with a censure. (c. 1372) - interestingly does not appear in the eastern code of #canonlaw

Fun fact: while a Latin cleric promises obedience to his ordinary and his successors, at my ordination the rite required sworn obedience not just to my local hierarch but also to the Roman Pontiff, and the teachings of the one, holy, Catholic, Roman Church. Always mindful!
