“The more contemptible is he who commands, the more pleasing to God is the humility of him who obeys.”

Just One Man's Opinion
Not universally true, and maybe not even true for the limited cases to which it applies. Pulling Christian teaching from quotes of individual saints is not moral theology, and even what is taken to be the result of the sanctified, connatural wisdom of a saint must be tested against Tradition and a proper moral theology.

Who is Funding This?
“The obsolescence of the 20th century economy is showing, but also of the economy before January 2020. We have entered the era of communal wealth and a new economy is needed,” says Luigino Bruni, scientific director of the Economy of Francesco https://t.co/BfwMKXFvJ3 pic.twitter.com/fEi5WHsrCy

The Church
That Frank Built Destroyed
Sandro Magister: New Appeal From Fr. Weinandy To the Pope: With This False Mercy the Church Is Destroyed
Catholic World Report: The Four Marks of the Church: The Contemporary Crisis in Ecclesiology
We need to mount a robust defense and clear advocacy of the Church’s four marks, for without such an apology, the Church’s identity – what she truly is – will become disordered, and so will enfeeble her ability to live and to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Comment: Whatever what one thinks of Roman Catholic ecclesiology as explained here, nonetheless one can ask if the crisis affects the whole Church or just the patriarchate of Rome, and whether the essay could still stand as it is written if we take the crisis to be of the patriarchate of Rome only, or if it would have to be written substantially.

Fr. Augustine's Book Talk Rescheduled
I saw Fr. Augustine today and asked him to sign some copies of his book. I mentioned the book talk at the DSPT and he responded that it had been rescheduled for January, so that Regis Martin could participate. (? I think I am remembering the correct name.)
Fr. Augustine may also be giving a talk at the National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi in October, but that has not been finalized yet.

It's been a while since I've looked at Amy Welborn's blog. She recently wrote a post on Fr. Augustine Thompson's new biography of St. Francis of Assisi.
